Beyond the Nutrition Label

nutrition-label.jpg

Unfortunately, I suspect that more consumers rely on the health claims of food producers on the front of the package than on the nutrition label located on the back of the package. The basis for these "claims" depend on a definition devised by the producer. Can something be done to regiment these claims into a system in which the consumer can depend? The nonprofit Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) is petitioning the Food and Drug Administration to institute just such a scheme.

Hey dad! I really like this article a lot because it is the same deceptions the corporations pratice in other advertising campaigns. I learned this is Sociology 303 Mass Media and Society, there is so much the general public is censored from. Look at Oprah having to go to court for five years because she was sued by the Cattle Slaughtering Company in Texas who were the ones feeding cows their own brains which caused mad cow desease! It is so corrupt!
