Be BONE-IDLE |

We may have been going to fast to notice "Slow Down Week" (January 15 thru 21), but you can still see the short video. Well worth the time and if it doesn't get you to think about what we're all doing to ourselves, I don't know what will!

What amazes me is that in foreign countries where people (on average) take several times more time off than a typical American, they have higher productivity per worker. It would appear that the body and mind need significant down time in order to operate at peak efficiency. It's likely that when you give it a rest you'll come back to work with better insight, real vigor and more enthusiasm. So while some Americans seem to believe that time off is time lost to work; taking time off actually leads to more work getting done. Does anybody really believe that they are working at peak efficiency for the whole of 70 weeks? Isn’t it possible that working in a state of near exhaustion leads to errors that lead to corrections being needed and a net loss of time?

Even though I think people and businesses would both benefit if people took more time off; I think the guy in the photo may be taking ther Slow Down message a little too far!

In my previous comment I meant to say "Does anybody really believe that they are working at peak efficiency for the whole of 70-hour weeks?" rather than "70 weeks"
